Shop Update - Sale Items

I put my store on vacation mode for a month while I worked on a huge project for my day job.  It wasn't an ideal situation because I missed a lot of sales over the Thanksgiving holiday, but honestly, there are only so many hours in a day and something had to give.

But it's open again now and I've put some items on sale that I don't plan to carry any more.

The Vintage Bird Kit and Vintage Gentleman Kits are both on sale - there are only a few left, so I'd get them while you can.

And the seam binding is also on sale - priced to clear!

Vintage Trio

I'm delighted to share with you the final piece by Guest Artist Electra.  She created a lovely trio of ATCs using stamps from Studio 490 and Tim Holtz - Stampers Anonymous using the my Vintage Gentleman Kit.

Vintage Page Gentleman Kit

Happy weekend everyone!  I'm excited to say that I finally got the new Vintage Page Gentleman Kit into the store today.  It's one of those projects that taken way longer than it should have done.

I really love this kit because it includes so many cool pieces of vintage ephemera - each one is so unique.  Here's some of the items they include:

• Handwritten check stubs and checks from the 1890's
• A cabinet card
• Vintage train ephemera, such as a baggage report and time card
• Blank ledger pages
• Pages from an old baseball magazine
• Pages from a steam engine book with lots of technical drawings
• Pages from a gentleman's magazine with lots of lovely illustrations

And to kick things off, Cathy Calamas has created a charming tag with the kit and the neutral seam binding.  I love it!

Vintage Gentleman's Challenge

Good morning!  I will be launching a new Vintage Page kit this week and to celebrate I have another challenge for you....

G e n t l e m e n

Your gentleman themed challenge piece can take any form - an ATC, card, scrapbook or journal page or 3d item.  And you can use any media - paper, fabric, stamps, ink, paint etc.  Go to town and have fun.  Post your creation here by July 31, 2012 and I will randomly draw 1 lucky winner, who will receive a $25 gift certificate to the Vintage Page Store.  Please include a direct link to your post and a link back to this challenge.

I'm excited to showcase the work of two designers this month - Cathy Calamas of A Surcee Life and Electra from Wishin I Knew How to Blog.  Their work is amazing and I'm sure you'll enjoy their work as much as I do.  They both used the new Vintage Page Gentleman Kit.

Clean and Simple Bird Card

There's not been much blogging action going on around here lately!  Part of my day job is organizing the city's farmers market and with summer fast approaching, that's been taking up lots of time.  But once we're up and running, I'm looking forward to having a little more time to stamp and blog.

Altered Bird House by Cheri Weston

Fabric Bird Collage

I'm just loving playing with fabric at the moment.  The base of this 6" x 6" collage is a piece of grunge board that I sewed a piece of tea-dyed ticking to.

Then, I just layered up things I love:

• stamped, tea-dyed tag
• piece of handmade paper
• page from a vintage book
• old postage stamp
• scrap of an old vintage map
• vintage buttons

The main focal image is a bird from an old book page (found in the Vintage Page Bird Kits) adorned with an old lens.  Everything was either sewn onto the fabric base or adhered with gel medium.  Here's some close-ups:

Altered Book Cover by Trisha Too

I'm delighted to share with you today a beautiful piece of art by Trisha Too of Easily Amused, Hard to Offend.  Trisha is an amazing Mixed Media Artist - you should definitely check out her work if you're not familiar with it. 

To make this piece, she used the Vintage Page Bird Kit and Neutral Seam Binding to create an amazing altered book cover.  I love how she created a sheet music pleat at the bottom!

Vintage Page Bird Kits

Good morning!  The Vintage Page Bird kits are finally available in my Etsy store.  I've been working on them for a while and I'm so excited that they are out in the world!

My thinking behind them is that while mass produced papers and embellishments are fun to use, I like to incorporate real vintage items into my work.  And so I figured, other probably like to do that too.  That's how they were born!

I picked a favorite theme of mine for the first kit - Vintage Birds.  Each hand-selected package contains all original bird themed book pages, illustrations and ephemera - nothing has been reproduced or altered in any way.  Because they're from my personal collection, there's only a limited supply, so when they're gone, they're gone :(

And in case you're wondering what to do with these bundles of vintage goodies, here's some inspiration for you.  Helene Huber created this fantastic tag using a recycled postal box lid - thanks Helene!

And I made a fabric collage using one of the cute bird trading cards that's included in the kit.

Sneak Peek - Vintage Page Bird Kits

I'm excited to announce that I'll be offering the very first limited edition Vintage Page Kit in my store next week on Thursday, May 3rd.  And the theme of this first kit is birds and it will contain all vintage book pages and bird illustrations.

I'm so fortunate to be working with a group of very talented Guest Designers who have created some beautiful artwork using the new Vintage Page Bird Kit.  Here's a little preview of some of the amazing things they've created.
